I never met the great Coach Buller, but I've heard plenty of stories. My favorite is one where his Clyde football team evidently beat up on Clifton pretty well one game night, but evidently they didn't put forth enough effort so when the game was complete, he had his team stay on the field and do some sprints... or something like that. That is how legends are created. And Coach Buller was a legend.

In practice one day, I got tackled, my cleats stuck in the ground, and I tweaked my knee a little. One of those things where it hurts like heck at first, but then goes away. Anyway, Buller came over, and I got a personal "keep your knees bent" lecture which seemed to go on and on and on. Of course, I didn't dare interrupt coach to tell him I remembered this tip from the other 100 times he must have told us that each year during practice.
