Proud of our country

I count eight American flags on the sidewalk in downtown Washington right now. Five on the 200 block of C Street and three on the 300 block. It looks very nice along with the red, white and blue Welcome to Washington banners. People must be inspired about Palin's speech last night. Or maybe it is just a beautiful day.

I would like to commend Dan for give people the opportunity to show patriotism in a more organic / less jingoistic way by creating this blog. People can employ their freedom of speech and joust with their local newspaper editor / right-wing idealogue. :-P

Right-wing idealogue?
Finally, somebody says something nice about me!

Was it a holiday?
I hope the flags weren't flying because the hockey mom, who mentioned that distinction 100 times, made a divisive speech.
Maybe people were flying flags because they thought the Olympics were back on. After all, the crowd at the RNC kept chanting "U-S-A."

I noticed the U-S-A chant too. All the Dems ever chanted was O-ba-ma. I guess that shows where the party's loyalty lies. ;-)
McCain's speech tonight was a bit boring unfortunately.

I noticed they were chanting "John McCain" also, which I think was nice.
The "U-S-A" chant was patriotic I guess, but it seemed to scream we're more patriotic than you, which doesn't seem right.

So what you're saying is, it doesn't seem right to chant U-S-A?

Just seemed odd in that instance.
Olympics and other situations when it's actually about the entire country.

Those seem like awesome times for such a chant.
