New hospital fundraiser assistant
Haely (Rettig) Ordoyne recently took the job as the new Washington County Hospital fundraising assistant. Haely and her husband Raleigh, both originally from Linn, recently moved back to the county from McPherson. I'm sure I'll have something in the print edition soon.

Sure hope you have something about how much these "fund raisers" are costing us. Or, is this like the jail and will never cost the citizens of Washington county?
Well td, that didn't take long for you to bring your positive spin to this project. Just out of curiosity, as I'm sure you know the hospital is taking donations for a new facility, how much have you contributed? I have my guess...but I'll keep it to myself, but If I had to say, I would guess the amount rhymes with "hero".
You don't have to use rhymes, hero goes well with zero, and thats exactly what I will donate as long as the current inept hospital administration and board is in place.
The only way to change the "inept" board and administration is to (shudder) become one yourself. A new hospital will cost the citizens of Washington County, but keeping and old out of date, run down, past the patch up stage one cold cost alot more. How much is your life worth? Oh, that's right you won't go there. Well the extra time to get to a hospital for the people living west of Hanover could mean at the least, decreased quality of life, at the worst, death.
The term "time is muscle" doesn't just apply to hearts. Time is also brain cells, or hemmorage control or limb life. The "golden hour" is cut to 30 min., or less, just by going further for medical care.
So don't build a new hospital, and when it can no longer be fixed we'll just shut it down and go somewhere else. And when mom or dad don't make it because the ambulance had to go so far before they got to the hospital we won't feel bad, after all we saved a buck or two way back when on the old Washington Co. Hospital
mom - some very nice points there. Do I want to help foot the bill for a new hospital, not really. Am I going to use the new hospital, most likely. So, it's not a matter whether I want to help foot the bill, I have an obligation, so, if that means a higher mill levy or a higher sales tax, so be it. It would be neat if everyone was given the option to be taxed for a new hospital, and if you choose not to be taxed, then you can't use it, emergency or not! If you're not willing to help foot the bill, you shouldn't be able to use it. Everyone knows that Washington is in a decline, its things like a NEW hospital which will help Washington grow, new jobs, better standard of care, better equipment. It's a no brainer. I just wish people would understand that.
